Charitable Contribution's Steering Committee

The Charitable Contributions Committee requests, prior to making a motion for a charitable contribution, you give consideration to the following:

►	Is there any direct impact of our contribution to any of our members?
►	Are any other local union members engaged in the same charity?
►	Has the local union made a contribution this year or in previous years?
►	Does the charity have 501(c)(3) status?
►	What percentage of the charity's fund-raising goal does our contribution account for?
►	Is there any other fund raising events being utilized by the charity to reach its fund raising goal (i.e. are other organizations contributing?
►	Does the local union receive any promotion associated with the fund raising effort?
►	Will you provide the membership a report of the success of the fund raising endeavor?

This is not an attempt to reduce our participation in charitable endeavors. As in the past, we would like to encourage Local 124 members to participate in charitable activities. However, we all need to practice discretion when making the decisions about how our contributions are best utilized.
