Dear Brothers and Sisters,
At times it is necessary to review and
readjust policies and procedures. In a perfect world,
policies would not be necessary, since everyone would act in
consideration of their brothers and sisters. As is always
the case, a few opportunists foul the system for everyone
else.
In consideration of member input and my own
observations, beginning October
1st, the following referral policy changes
will be implemented:
-
When calling to be flagged or un-flagged
you will be required to provide your IBEW card number or
the last four digits of your SSN to complete the
transaction.
-
Upon completion of a short-term you will
not be marked as being available for work again until a
termination notice is provided to the Hall. In order to
be available for work immediately upon termination, you
will need to report to the hall with a termination
notice. Otherwise you are relying on the employer to
mail us a notice. This could cause a delay of several
days.
-
IBEW members from other locals, when
working in Local 124’s jurisdiction shall carry a
current working permit issued by Local 124.
-
When taking a “specialty call” which
requires certifications, the individual will need to
bring the required certification credentials to the hall
for verification before being referred to the employer.
-
When reporting to the Hall for sign-in,
an agent will be available to check credentials. In the
rare event that all agents are out or busy you may, at
your option, sign in without seeing an agent.
I apologize for any inconvenience that this
may cause, but these changes are necessary for IBEW 124 to
continue in its place as the fairest craft referral system
in Kansas City.
In
Brotherhood,
Terry Akins
